Science for All

We are so lucky to have according to parents magazine the #1 best science center in the United States in our back yard. I have been going to COSI since I have been a kid, and I will be the first to tell you that it has been better and better every time I go. Now that we have kids we have a change and a reason to go more often.

If you are ever in the area you really need to go. COSI is fun for all ages. One of the most recent set-ups is a walk through time and technology. As you can see Isabella sitting on an old range.

As a reminder to all you parents... Every last Friday of the month there is a admission sale!

Our kids should be like superman.

This past weekend was beautiful. So we decided to try and get outside as much as possible. If everyone remembers Superman needs the Earth's yellow sun to gain powers, so do we! Yes everyone the lives as far north as us does not get enough Sun, more specifically vitamin D.

According to U.S. News, "In the winter, it's impossible to produce vitamin D from the sun if you live north of Atlanta because the sun never gets high enough in the sky for its ultraviolet B rays to penetrate the atmosphere."
So why should we spend more time outside, well..."The sunshine vitamin may protect against a host of diseases, including osteoporosis, heart disease, and cancers of the breast, prostate, and colon. What's more, sunlight has other hidden benefits—like protecting against depression, insomnia, and an overactive immune system."

So get outside, but be aware of how much sun you are getting. Don't burn! Oh and take more pictures, but first make sure you don't let you kid have your camera, you may not get it back.

Race Day

This past Sunday was the first time that I ran a 5K race. Nicole, Isabella, and Charlotte were all there to help cheer me on.

Isabella was very upset that she was not able to race. So I talked to the announcer and we were able to run around and have her run through the finish line. She was so excited.

If you are in the Columbus area for the Memorial day weekend. There is a 5K race in the Park of Roses, "Ring around the Roses 5K" that is also holding a kids run. So if you wanted to come out and join us either with your kids or run with Nicki and I, please do. We will be there. Isabella will be ready for her 100 yard race.

A horse of course

This weekend there was a kids day at our local YMCA. There were a lot of learning booths that the kids could visit. Such as kids were able to learn about fires and fire safety and then of course what everyone wants to do, they were able to hold the fire hose and spray it. (Isabella needed assistance)

Also they brought in some horses the kids could ride. Isabella was so very excited about that. Although one thing was deterring from her fun. A mouse! Yes, someone dressed up like a mouse that Isabella was deathly scared of. But in the end the mouse went inside and all was well. The name of the horse she was able to ride was Reina.

Did you know that horses were first domesticated between 3500-4000BC? Originally (millions of years ago) they were a small multi-toed animal. Yes evolution does happen.

There's no stoppin' curiosity

Who's to say
What's impossible
Well they forgot
This world keeps spinning
And with each new day
I can feel a change in everything
And as the surface breaks reflections fade
But in some ways they remain the same
And as my mind begins to spread its wings
There's no stoppin' curiosity

I wanna turn the whole thing upside down
I'll find the things they say just can't be found
I'll share this love I find with everyone
We'll sing and dance to Mother Nature's song
I don't want this feeling to go away

Who's to say
I can't do everything
Well I can try
And as I roll along I begin to find
Things aren't always just what they seem
I wanna turn the whole thing upside down
I'll find the things they say just can't be found
I'll share this love I find with everyone
We'll sing and dance to Mother Nature's song
This world keeps spinning and there's no time to waste

Will it all keep spinning and spinning round and round and
Upside down
Who's to say whats impossible and can't be found
I don't want this feeling to go away
Please Don't go away
Please Don't go away
Please don't go away
is this how it's supposed to be
is this how it's supposed to be
